Making A Splash and Making A Difference

Kathleen Millay has called New Holland home since 1989. Her connection to CrossNet Ministries began when her four sons—now adults—attended the Youth Center, back when it was known as Cross Connection.

Over the years, her involvement has deepened through her local church, Our Lady of Lourdes. As she puts it, “It’s hard not to know CrossNet.”

About four years ago, Kathleen was inspired by a simple yet meaningful idea: to give another family the opportunity to enjoy the local pool, a place she and her boys often visited when they were growing up. That first summer, she donated a pool pass to a single family.

The following year, she reached out to the Youth Center team to see if they could purchase group pool passes together. She also invited her church community to take part, suggesting a special collection for pool passes. Their generosity provided 12 students with access to the pool that summer.

In a conversation with CrossNet staff, Kathleen asked how many students they wished they could serve. The answer? Fifty.

Encouraged by her church’s response, Kathleen decided to broaden the effort. She wrote a letter to other local churches, inviting them to join in. Thanks to the incredible support of the community, donations poured in—enough to provide 60 pool passes this summer.

“It’s a place for students to go during the summer and to stay cool. And hopefully have a better day because of it.”  Kathleen shared. “I believe in listening to the Spirit’s promptings and just putting it into action. And CrossNet makes it so easy to partner with them.”

She added, “As long as we’re living, we can contribute. There are needs everywhere.”

We are deeply thankful for Kathleen’s generosity, compassion, and commitment to her community. Her kindness is helping local families create lasting summer memories.
