Important Warehouse Renovation Update

Dear CrossNet Supporters,
I want to share an important update regarding the CrossNet Ministries’ (CrossNet’s) expansion and renovation project!
As many of you know, in 2022 CrossNet shared a need for more space for programs. We have been growing over the past six years and have outgrown our current facilities. We shared with you that we had the opportunity to purchase a large warehouse on Franklin Street, across the street from our current office and Food Pantry. The warehouse purchase cost $1.5 million, and we received an estimate of $1.5 million to renovate the space. This brought us to a $3 million project goal. We shared the need with a partner, and we were generously offered a $1.5 million matching grant if we could raise the other $1.5 million in nine months! At the end of 2022, through the generosity of the community, we had raised the $1.5 million and were able to receive the matching grant from the Clark Associates Charitable Foundation. In January 2023, we purchased the warehouse debt free!
In September 2024, we shared another update regarding this project and the increased cost due to post pandemic inflation and changes to the plans. At that time, we shared that we needed to raise an additional $800,000 with our desire being to have no debt and raise these funds during the construction/renovation stage. Since September, we have been thrilled to see progress being made with the renovation. The space has a new roof, has been prepped for plumbing, and framing is set to start in February. We have also been meeting with many businesses, donors, and organizations to share the financial need. The community continues to support, and I am excited to share that $200,000 has come in since the September update bringing our needed goal down to $600,000.
With that, I wanted to share with you recent developments to the project. Many of you are aware that a portion of the exterior brick façade fell in July 2024. We are so grateful for God’s provision and protection and that no one was hurt when it happened. Over the last few months, we have been working with TONO Group and other engineers to assess the damage along with corresponding with our insurance company. The building continues to be structurally sound, but many other weak areas were found in the façade which meant redesigning the initial plan. Unfortunately, our insurance company did not cover the façade failure, so we worked with TONO Group for the most cost-effective redesign. Because of that, the cost of the reengineered façade is an additional $150,000. This brings our new needed total to $750,000 to open the CrossNet space debt free.
We know this may come as a surprise. We also know that this is a big task, but our eyes continue to be fixed on the mission of offering help and hope in the name of Jesus! From day one, we have committed this space to the Lord and believe that He will make a way.
Many of you have already contributed to this project and given so generously. We are appealing to our community, donors, and supporters as we seek to finish this project with a goal to open the space in August 2025!
Would you prayerfully consider helping us reach our goal of raising $750,000 for renovation costs?
Thank you for your consideration, prayer, and continued support. We are blessed to partner with you.
With Gratitude,
Carl Edwards, Executive Director
